“Animal Prints 1” / “Animal Prints 2” - The 5/6 students began their final unit of the year with a study of animals, expressed through the art of printmaking. Each artist chose an Idaho animal and created a unique drawing. They then transferred this design to a piece of styrofoam and used pencils to “carve” their designs into the foam plates. The plates were then inked using a brayer and pressed onto white paper to create prints. Students experimented with colors, lines, and different amounts of ink in order to create several quality prints. They chose their best image to become part of a poster of Idaho animals. Each animal features its own unique personality, much like the students who created them!
