“Abstract No. 1” - The Kindergarten artists finished the first quarter of the year by learning about abstract art. Abstract art is work that does not contain any recognizable shapes or objects, but instead uses the elements of line, shape, color, and texture to create interest. After viewing many examples of abstract artworks, the students started to make their own paintings. They began by building a background of blurred watercolor, then added dots, spots, dashes, and lines with acrylic paint. While each student made their own painting, they also contributed to this beautiful collaborative work, then signed their names within the piece.
